A single very decorative alphabet in three different sizes, for handkerchiefs and napkins, towels and pillow covers, and sheets. Border designs as space filling, and the last page a border and a corner design. The letters are decorated with a floral design, showing irises. Although these designs are usually intended for whitework, they would look stunning with the flowers executed in natural colors.

Another Sajou booklet, and there’ll be more to come. This one particularly focuses on iris flowers. Iris flowers in the flower language mean hope, wisdom, bravery, and faith. The flower has the same name as the Greek goddess Iris, who was a messenger for the gods and crossed from Olympus to earth on the rainbow, which served her as a bridge. Nowadays, crossing the Rainbow Bridge has quite another meaning!

The iris also was used in France as symbol of royalty, one assumes this would be the purple iris. The fleur-de-lys symbol is said to derive from the iris flower, something I learned only when reading about the iris in flower language. Every day we learn something new.
