The one item I did notice was the Hungarian Stuffed Cabbage: although my family has no Hungarian background at all (back to the sixteenth century at least) this was a family recipe that I taught to my daughter as well. Some recipes are worldwide favorites! And this I also learned that when in the New Testament the lilies of the field are compared favorably to Solomon’s royal robes, it was red lilies that they were talking about. I always think of lilies as white and that’s shortsighted because I’ve had bouquets of orange and pink lilies on my table at the office.
If you have cats, don’t have lilies at home: their pollen might kill your kitty. No lilies in the garden either, and fortunately none of our neighbours grow lilies.
