The Workbasket Vol. 15 No. 1

I-WB151 The Workbasket Vol. 15 No. 1
Crochet: Bedside Table Doily, Daisy Shawl, Crochet Nut Cup, Baby Shell Edge, Poinsettia Tablecloth, Shell Stitch Pan Holder, Knitting: Knitted Baby Set. Tailored Knitting, Aunt Ellen’s Club Notes, An Old-New Embroidery Stitch (Hardanger)
Stapled softcover, 32 pages.
From the collection of Sarah Dalton, scanned by Seya Wijnsma-Spek, edited by Makayla Merritt. Published with kind permission of F+W Media, the current copyright holder.

Aunt Ellen’s Club Notes has as program suggestion Refinishing furniture, with advice on stripping paint, preparing for the new finish, removing stains and glueing loose connections – the last the most important, because when sitting on a chair you’d want to be sure that all four legs remain in their place.

Thank you, Makayla, for the editing work!

One remark about the lovely daisy shawl – the image shows only the black daisies. That’s because the white in-between crocheted area are virtually impossible to see, even on the original scan. You’ll just have to follow the pattern and imagine the invisible area. Editing with more contrast shows faint white lines, while the black daisies are, well, black and no stitches visible. If I find a better image I might revisit this, and if any of you makes this pattern, send me a photograph! Please, on a middle grey background and not on white, as the Workbasket photo was done.
