Antique Pattern Library partners with CVL for Kitely Exhibit
The Antique Pattern Library, a project of Metaverse Libraries, is an online archive born from the effort to scan craft pattern publications that are in the public domain, to preserve our craft heritages. These patterns are scanned and made available through the Metaverse Libraries website. However, as part of showing the application of real librarianship in virtual worlds, the Antique Pattern Library has partnered with other projects under the umbrella of Metaverse Libraries.
To help showcase the use of antique patterns in the virtual world environment, Community Virtual Library (CVL) has set up a showcase island with examples of how the patterns can be used in-world, that is available as part of the Metaverse Libraries islands on the virtual world of KItely.
There are two pavilions. Each one of these contains material from a different era in history.
The pavilion closest to the central island contains examples from the 17th century. The patterns are applied to dishware and wall hangings to illustrate the uses.
In the other pavilion there are examples from the 19th century. Here, you can see applications on furniture and various types of wall hangings. Samples of curtains are also showcased.
The design sets the pavilions in a serene, relaxing environment that is perfect for contemplation and consideration on how to best utilize these kinds of designs once you take in the two pavilion exhibits.
Come to the Metaverse Libraries area of Cookie II to fully explore the Antique Pattern Libraries pavilions and all that they have to offer. You can either use the teleporter on the central island, or walk over if you prefer. This way you can see how Antique Pattern Library partners with CVL for Kitely exhibit for yourself.
You can also learn more about the patterns offered by the Antique Pattern Library, and browse currently available samples, from other posts here on the Metaverse Libraries blog.
